Wrinkle-relaxants

Most people will know this as Botox treatment.

Botox is a brand name of the substance used to relax wrinkles botulinum toxin.

Several other licensed brands of botulinum toxin are also available but Botox is the most commonly known.

At Vitality, we use Azzalure.   Treatments for relaxing wrinkles are only performed after a consultation with advanced aesthetic practitioner, Jayne Gordon.

Wrinkle relaxants are normally used in the upper third of the face to smooth lines around the eyes (crows’ feet), between the eyebrows (frown lines) and on the forehead.  They can also help lift the corners of a downturned mouth, soften smokers lines around the mouth, reduce a gummy smile and relax the “stringy” appearance of an ageing neck.

They work by temporarily relaxing the muscles which, from a lifetime of facial expression, have caused wrinkles in your skin.

The treatment will involve a series of tiny injections into your skin with very fine needles. You will be able to resume normal activities straight away.

The injection sites might appear slightly reddened for a few hours but this quickly passes and can be covered up with concealer if you wish.

It takes anything from a few days to a fortnight for the treatment to work and the effects tend to last approximately 3 months.

The most common side effect can be a small bruise after treatment which might last a few days.

Toxins are also fantastic for treating sweaty armpits (hyperhidrosis) and will make those embarrassing damp patches a thing of the past.
